I am always working on a series of new pieces that explore the quiet beauty of wildlife and natural landscapes. Each project is at a different stage — from early sketches to layers of oil paint that build depth and texture on canvas. These works in progress reflect my fascination with capturing fleeting moments in nature, whether it’s the watchful gaze of an animal or the soft glow of evening light. I’m experimenting with darker backgrounds and bolder contrasts to bring a fresh perspective to my style while staying true to my love for detail and atmosphere.

2 and a half hours in!

At this stage in this piece, I’ve completed the foundational sketch and have begun building up the first thin layers of oil paint that will set the mood and depth of the scene. The early washes of color create an underpainting that guides the atmosphere — from the soft gradients of the evening sky to the reflective purples of the still water. As I move forward, I’ll gradually add more layers, each one richer and more textured, bringing dimension to the mountains, the stones, and the focal point of the animal. My process involves slowly working from broad tones to fine details, allowing the piece to evolve naturally while I refine the balance of light, shadow, and form. With each pass, the paint will grow thicker, more luminous, and more expressive, revealing the quiet, contemplative moment I envision in this landscape.
